No More Illiteracy in my Town

Dr. Ronald Murphy, Founder and principal dentists at Murphy Dentistry, has been delivering the best health care possible to his patients for over 20 years. In addition to that, he has taken an active role in ensuring his community is getting stronger and becoming a better place to be. He has chosen Literacy as his game! He was awarded the Friends of Literacy Award in 2015 from the Young Adult Library Services Association in Batavia for his sponsorship and support of the local libraries Youth Literacy Program.


Dr. Murphy is now working with the Boys & Girls Club of America. Another organization dedicated to improving the lives of our youth.


He is a proud recipient of the RECOGNITION OF DUTY AWARD, bestowed upon him from the Literacy for a Better World Program.


His own personal mission aligns with those of these various groups that he supports, which is to (TO IMPROVE LITERACY AND THUS HIS COMMUNITY!)


Dr. Murphy stated, “I know that by giving back to my community in the way of providing good reading materials to the youth through every possible program out there, that I can effect positive change. I urge every professional to get involved. It will take all of us working together to turn around the declining literacy stats. But we CAN do it.”


The contribution of Ron has made it possible for youth in these clubs to read quality works that inspire the imagination and create a love for reading, a great building block for an education.


BIO: Dr. Murphy graduated from SIU Dental School in Alton, IL in 2002. He did his undergraduate at Bradley University graduating in 1998. His practice is located in Batavia, IL where he has been practicing since January of 2005. He resides in Batavia with his wife and two young girls. During dental school, Dr. Murphy went to Jamaica on a humanitarian trip where the team of doctors and students performed extractions, cleanings and basic restorative procedures. Furthermore, when he graduated from SUI Dental School, he received an award from The Academy of Operative Dentistry.


He is currently a member of American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, Fox Valley Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has received an award for Top Doc organization in 2011.


Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time within the community. He has been a member of Batavia Rotary since 2005 and severed as Secretary of the club for 2 years. Furthermore, he is member of Batavia Chamber of Commerce and served on Batavia Access Fireworks Committee.


Dr. Murphy likes to spend his free time traveling to warm places. Furthermore, he enjoys deep sea fishing. He is still looking for the blue marlin that got away from him on his honeymoon in 2002. In addition, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his family. The two little girls keep him hopping.
